GenusLemmus mencakup beberapa spesies leming yang terkadang dikenal sebagai leming sejati. Mereka tersebar di seluruh wilayah Holarktika, terkhususnya di Palearktika.
Deskripsi
Panjang kepala dan tubuhnya adalah 10-13.5cm, dengan ekor sepanjang 18–26mm. Bobotnya berkisar antara 40-112 g. Mereka berwarna kelabu atau cokelat. Tidak seperti leming berkerah, warna bulu mereka tidak berganti saat musim dingin.
