The public were able to observe the body of Khamenei at the Imam Khomeini Prayer Hall at the Grand Mosalla of Tehran.[10] The Fars News Agency stated that Khamenei will be buried at the Imam Reza shrine in his hometown of Mashhad.[11] However, on 18 April, the Astan Quds Razavi foundation said that the burial location had not yet been decided.[12]
The 40th-day commemoration
The 40th-day commemoration of the passing of the former leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was held with the participation of people and groups of mourners from inside and outside the country.[13][14]
