Tuvalu menjadi anggota ke-189 dari Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa pada September 2000.^[1][2] Pada saat ini Perwakilan Permanen negara tersebut untuk PBB adalah Dubes Aunese Simati. Tuvalu adalah salah satu 19 negara yang tak mengakui Republik Rakyat Tiongkok, salah satu dari lima anggota permanen Dewan Keamanan Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa.^[3]
