Trull is a village, electoral ward and civil parish in Somerset, England, situated near Taunton. The parish, which includes Dipford and Staplehay, has a population of 2,288.[1]
History
The name Trull is thought to derive from the word Trendle meaning circle or wheel.[2]
All Saints’ Church has a tower dating from the 13th century; the rest is 15th-century. It was served by the monks of Taunton Priory until 1308.[2] The east window, dating from the 15th century, depicts the crucifixion with St John and the Mother of Jesus at the foot of the Cross.[5] The pulpit is believed to date from around 1500. The building has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.[6]
