Jurnal ini membahas pendidikan matematika dengan fokus pada pelajar berusia 15–20 tahun.[1] Jurnal didirikan pada tahun 1894 oleh Edward Mann Langley[2] sebagai penerus Reports of the Association for the Improvement of Geometrical Teaching (Laporan Asosiasi untuk Peningkatan Pengajaran Geometri).[3] William John Greenstreet menjadi kepala redaksi jurnal untuk lebih dari tiga puluh tahun (1897–1930).[4] Sejak tahun 2000, posisi kepala redaksi dipegang oleh Gerry Leversha.
