The predecessor to the service was called "Korea Window" (코리아윈도우), which was established in 1995.[2][3] Korea.net was established in September 1999.[4]
Korea.net is operated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.[5] As of 2025, it is available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Indonesian and Vietnamese.[6][2] The website provides up-to-date information about Korea across a variety of fields, including government policies, international cooperation, cultural developments, the arts, history, social movements, science, technology, business, sports, and so on.[6] Under the Honorary Reporter program launched in 2011, Korea.net had 1,543 honorary reporters from 106 countries and 1,152 K-influencers from 98 nations in May 2026.[7] It had 1,498 honorary reporters from 101 countries and 1,303 K-influencers from 95 countries in 2025.[4]
