John Ireland (dibaptis pada 11 September 1838 – 25 September 1918) adalah seorang prelatus Irlandia-Amerika yang menjadi uskup Katolik ketiga dan uskup agung pertama Saint Paul, Minnesota (1888–1918). Ia menjadi pemimpin agama serta sipil di Saint Paul menjelang abad ke-20. Ireland dikenal karena pendirian progresifnya pada pendidikan, imigrasi dan hubungan antara gereja dan negara, serta penentangannya terhadap alkoholisme, mesin politik, dan korupsi politik.

ia mempromosikan Amerikanisasi Katolik, khususnya melalui pemberlakuan gerakan hanya bahasa Inggris pada paroki-paroki Katolik secara paksa, sebuah perang pribadi melawan Gereja Katolik Timur, dengan tujuan untuk membuat sekolah Katolik identik dengan sekolah negeri melalui rencana Poughkeepsie, dan melalui gagasan sosial progresif lainnya. Ia banyak dianggap sebagai pemimpin utama unsur modernisasi dalam Gereja Katolik di Amerika Serikat pada Era Progresif, yang membuatnya mengalami konflik terbuka terhhadap hak bahasa minoritas dan teologi dengan uskup sufragannya Otto Zardetti dan kemudian dengan Paus Leo XIII, melalui surat apostolik Testem benevolentiae nostrae yang mengecam gagasan Uskup Agung Ireland sebagai bidaah Amerikanisme.
