Ilia Andriyovych Volok (Ukrainian: Ілля Андрійович Волох, romanized:Illia Andriyovych Volokh; born November 22, 1964) is a Ukrainian actor, based in the United States. He has appeared in over 170 films, television series, and video games since his debut in 1994.[1]
Early life
Volok was born in Kyiv on November 22, 1964.[2] Prior to his acting career, he was a member of the Soviet national rowing team, finishing third place in the Men's Pair at the 1982 World Rowing Junior Championships,[3] and later becoming Ukrainian national champion.[2]
He studied at the Moscow Art Theatre School under Alexander Kalyagin.[1][4] He worked as a professional stage actor in Russia, before emigrating to the United States at the age of 26, in 1990.[4] He initially supplemented his income by working in a cemetery.[2]
Volok frequently performs on stage. He co-wrote, co-created, and starred as the title character in the comedy play Fakov in America.[5] He plays a leading part in Cat's Paw, an Actors Studio project.[6] In Diary of a Madman by short story writer Nikolai Gogol.[7] The character Vladimir Kamarivsky in the Electronic Arts video game Battlefield 3 is modeled after and voiced by Volok.[citation needed] Volok also plays and voices the character Vladislav "Vlad" Kozak in the Overkill Software video game Payday 2.
