Hyperia dapat ditemukan di perairan dekat pantai dalam bentuk bebas sebagai plankton atau berasosiasi dengan zooplankton bergelatin, termasuk ubur-ubur, ubur-ubur sisir, dan tunikata ordo Salpida.[3]
