Freren (German pronunciation: [ˈfʁeːʁən] ^ⓘ) is a municipality in the Emsland district, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 15 km east of Lingen.

Freren is also the seat of the Samtgemeinde ("collective municipality") Freren.
