Fontanelice (Romagnol: Funtâna) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Bologna in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southeast of Bologna. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,884 and an area of 36.6 square kilometres (14.1 mi²).^[3]

Fontanelice borders the following municipalities: Borgo Tossignano, Casalfiumanese, Casola Valsenio, Castel del Rio. A reinforced concrete bridge over the Santerno River connects Fontanelice to the village of Casalfiumanese.^[4]
