Pada 19 September 1851, uskup lokal resmi mengakui devosi publik dan doa kepada Bunda dari La Salette.[1][2] Pada 21 Agustus 1879, Paus Leo XIII memberikan koronasi kanonikal kepada gambar yang kini berada di Basilika Bunda dari La Salette. Sebuah tiara gaya Rusia diberikan kepada gambar tersebut, menggantikan tiara berjenis surya yang dipakai dalam penggambaran tradisional terhadap penampakan tersebut.
