Portraits
Hello I am a member of the WikiPortrait, which is a project dedicated to getting more high-quality, Creative Commons licensed portraits for WikiMedia Commons and Wikipedia. I've noticed that many articles on even the most prominent scientists working today are lacking portraits. Is there any way for either myself or another member of WikiPortraits could help with this? SpiritedMichelle (talk) 18:04, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
Hi SpiritedMichelle. I can't find any information on this effort so it is unclear what you can offer and what input you're looking for. Portraits on biography articles are always welcome AFAIC. ~Kvng (talk) 15:51, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
I would like to help out but the best bet, is to cold email these scientists, and hope they can send across a portrait to Wikimedia. After they give the permission we can upload the same. Feel free to email me so we can probably work on this.
This sounds like a fun idea and I'd be interested in helping. I'm not sure how WikiPortrait would factor into this though. ~Kvng (talk) 02:45, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
Perhaps, WikiPortrait could help in sending those emails? But again I feel us as individuals editors too could. I am also a member of the India Research Watch, and through it have some connections with Indian academics. I could perhaps use that channel as well or maybe connect back with Researchers I knew from my alma mater at University of Pennsylvania and IIT DelhiFlyingphoenixchips (talk) 03:47, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
@Kvng@SpiritedMichelle I was wondering if both of you wvuld want to start this work. I could start curating a list and sending emails, Best Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 18:39, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
A list would be a good start. Does WikiPortraits already have a master list of biographies without portraits? ~Kvng (talk) 13:33, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
"Scientific study" article?
I feel like the article Scientific study shouldn't exist, and is already covered in other articles. Despite sounding very important, it never had its importance rated, possibly because anyone looking at it is confused as to what exactly this article is about. ເສລີພາບ (talk) 04:08, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
Over the past month or so there has been ongoing activity at European Science Foundation. A COI editor employed by the ESF has been editing the page to remove unflattering content, albeit not particularly brazenly. It seems as though the ESF is a group of little import (independent sources are difficult to find) and has previously engaged in ... questionable ... scientific practices. The COI editing seemed to be more of an issue to me when the employee undid a reversion of their edits without a real substantive explanation (an LLM-generated message was posted on the talk page as justification). This situation is concerning to me, but I am not confident I have the time or expertise to respond properly. Any help is appreciated! AviationFreak💬 19:00, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
There was a proposal 5 years ago to turn this article, unsourced for 20 years, into a DAB page. Can somebody just do it? Bearian (talk) 10:33, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
Floor slip resistance testing
Floor slip resistance testing is listed on its talk page as falling within the purview of this WikiProject. Perhaps there's someone experienced in technical writing who could take a look at it. The article was expanded quite a bit since late last year. Some of the content seems OK (speaking a someone who knows zero about the subject matter), but there's also quite a bit that seems like WP:OR. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:03, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
Need Help
Hey guys, I am an applied Physicist and had been working on a few things related to rheology and nanotechnology lately. Created new articles Wall Slip, Melt Fracture,Nanobursa and Mooney–Kalyon plot will appreciate help on this. Also thinkng of creating articles on Weissenberg–Rabinowitsch Equation, Plateau modulus, Bagley Equation, Carreau–Yasuda model, Johnson–Segalman model and others.
I am affiliated with the group India Research Watch, and I recently created a draft article for its founder, Draft:Achal Agrawal. Our organization focuses on investigating and documenting cases of academic dishonesty in India, and I believed that a standalone article on Achal would be appropriate.
Given my conflict of interest, I have not moved the draft into mainspace and am instead submitting it through AfC. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could review the draft and provide feedback or suggestions for improvement.
Thank you for your time. Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 23:56, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
Unreferenced for 15 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. Poorly sourced with spammy external links
