Walter Brueggemann (11 Maret 1933 – 5 Juni 2025) adalah seorang pakar Perjanjian Lama dan penulis yang tinggal di Georgia di Amerika Serikat. Ia dilahirkan di Nebraska, sebagai anak seorang pendeta Injili Jerman. Ia mendapatkan gelar sarjananya dari Elmhurst College dan gelar doktornya dari Seminari Teologi Eden (pada 1961), Seminari Teologi Union, New York, dan Universitas Saint Louis (pada 1974). Brueggemann adalah profesor Perjanjian Lama di Eden, dan kemudian menjadi profesor Perjanjian Lama pada 1986 di Seminari Teologi Columbia; dari sini ia pensiun pada awal tahun 2000-an.

Brueggemann adalah penganjur dan praktisi kritik retorika. Ia telah menulis lebih dari 58 buku, ratusan artikel, dan sejumlah tafsiran atas kitab-kitab dalam Alkitab.
