It's been a while since I have seen your name pop up on my watchlist. Good to see you are still around. S0091 (talk) 20:09, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for reaching out, @S0091! You're right I was away for quite a while. I took a wikibreak that turned out longer than planned. It feels good to be back though🙂 – NJD-DE (talk) 20:46, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the clean up on my User talkpage
Thank you for getting rid of that quite harsh response that user placed on my talk page, I’m not entirely sure why they didn’t really answer my question and threaten me with a block despite the fact that is really the first time it’s been mentioned and because I haven’t edited Wikipedia for a couple of days. Thanks for the help. The Grenadian Historian (Aka. Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a) (talk) 09:07, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
Hi KeyolTranslater. I am really not sure what he's up to. I believe ~2026-78104-0 is the same user. The nature of his edits is rather disruptive than helpful.
What both users are/The user is right about is the manual of style includes a rule about using "straight" quotation marks instead of “curly” ones (see MOS:CURLY). But I disagree on three things:
Scope: These MOS-rules apply to article space. Changing the apostrophe in a template on your user page was completely unnecessary. Formatting of the user page is very much up to.
Relevance: Of course the MOS-rules exist for good reasons. But content improvement is far more important than minor issues like the type of quotation marks. Worst case: a bot or copy-editor will fix it.
Tone: Threatening with blocks like this is disproportionate and uncivil.
What I wrote above is probably not new to you. I just want to make sure you are not being discouraged by the messages you received on your talk page. Happy editing!🙂 – NJD-DE (talk) 23:16, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks, they do seem to be near identical, both coming out of the blue and in a harsh tone, I do understand the MOS and I’ll try to the refrain from the curly ones (unfortunately that may be tricky as my IPAD doesn’t have straight quotes as an option- I may be able to change it though). I do also think it was very unnecessary to change that on my userpage 😂.
Hi Njd-de, just a heads-up—please note that KMSP-TV is different than Fox News. See the footnote at WP:FOXNEWS. Relevant diffs: , . Wrackingtalk! 19:31, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
Hi @Wracking, must've missed that. Thanks for making me aware. With this particular edit, my concern was also though that it just linked to https://fox9.com and not any specific article or title. Will keep in mind the point about the local affiliates being separate from Fox News. – NJD-DE (talk) 20:06, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
Yes, I think the revert was still justified based on the lack of a specific page link. Best, Wrackingtalk! 20:28, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
Page on Cubans
Hello
I've been editing the wikipedia page on Cubans, which was, in my opinion, very poorly written and now I've found you've undone all my editing. May I ask why? I feel like I've wasted my time. The article in existence was very poor quality indeed. TheStandarist (talk) 18:02, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
