RelativeTimestamps script
Hi,
Thanks for making this script! I found a bug however. If my diff times are shown in local time, there will be a drift by my UTC offset. For instance, I am 8 hours behind UTC currently, so if I make an edit, it will show in the history as "8 hours ago" instead of "Now" which is incorrect. Once that is fixed, I'd be happy to reinstall it. TheTechie[she/they]|talk? 06:23, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
Hi, yes that's a current limitation that's noted in the notes. A lot of admins/editors i know use UTC everywhere anyway due to it being easier to reconcile everywhere, but if I get a minute to try and find a workaround for it I will. Mfield (Oi!) 06:28, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
Completely missed that. Thanks for noting. TheTechie[she/they]|talk? 06:30, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
@TheTechie Good news, I just found a way to detect the timezone offset so it should now work fine with non UTC times. Thanks for triggering me to fix it😉 Mfield (Oi!) 01:38, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
And thank YOU for fixing it!🙂 TheTechie[she/they]|talk? 02:04, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
I think I found another issue unfortunately. The relative timestamp when viewing a discussion doesn't really cross lines well. Currently it does something like this (from this comment):
(58 min. pm, Today (UTC-8) ago)
Could you make it so that it all appears on one line like this?
pm, Today (UTC-8) (58 min. ago)TheTechie[she/they]|talk? 05:23, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
@TheTechie Should be fixed now to non breaking spaces. Mfield (Oi!) 05:29, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
Hmm, not quite. Now it appears as:
(8 min. ago Today, (UTC-8))TheTechie[she/they]|talk? 05:38, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
How about now? I put a minimum width on the element, so if it still does it now then it may the browser deciding to wrap that element forcibly for some reason due to another element. Mfield (Oi!) 05:47, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
Nope, still doing it. I wonder if it's a Firefox quirk; I am using Librewolf after all. TheTechie[she/they]|talk? 05:56, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
So am I ha, I'll mess with it some more tomorrow Mfield (Oi!) 05:57, 25 February 2026 (UTC) Mfield (Oi!) 05:57, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
Figured it out. You have to remove the width property as that forces it to do the weird line thing. Without that parameter it's fine.
Another question. Does the timestamp update on discussions or is it from when you loaded the page? TheTechie[she/they]|talk? 06:02, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
they are calculated from the timestamps and injected into the DOM at the time the page is rendered, so they won't update without the page reloading Mfield (Oi!) 06:07, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
In that case, I'd probably provide a way to turn that specific function off, as when viewing, for example, long AN/I threads which takes minutes to read, that could get out of date. But that's just a suggestion of mine. TheTechie[she/they]|talk? 06:10, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
@TheTechie Better than that, I have just improved it so it auto updates all the sub 1 hour relative times every minute automatically, so you can read away now on those long threads and they will be updating themselves. Mfield (Oi!) 21:40, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you! TheTechie[she/they]|talk? 23:00, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
I can actually remove the width property anyway now the min width one is there, i may switch it to adding a class so they can be user styled also Mfield (Oi!) 06:10, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

I have tagged the userpage on meta with {{delete|reason}}. Nothing else to be done here unless they edit here. Mfield (Oi!) 05:32, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
Changes to user permissions made from Meta are now included in the local user permissions log (T6055).
The autoconfirmed user group will soon be modified such that the four-day account age requirement begins when an account makes its first edit (T418484).
Arbitration
The arbitration case SchroCat has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 15 April.
Per a recent motion, appeals of blocks from the conflict-of-interest VRT queue are, by default, appealed on-wiki through the normal unblock process. However, they may be heard by the Committee if COIVRTers disagree on the interpretation of the evidence or believe ArbCom would be better suited to hear the appeal. Administrators are also advised that loosening or lifting such blocks without the consent of someone with access to the queue or ArbCom can be grounds for desysopping.
Per a recent motion, restrictions issued directly by the Committee may now be enforced with blocks which work exactly like contentious topic blocks.
Hi Mfield. When you cleared the answered UUA reports a few minutes ago, I noticed you removed one that only I responded to. I thought only administrators could decline UAA reports. Was I wrong about that, or did you remove it because you agree it isn't a violation? Chess enjoyer (talk) 04:55, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
It's because i agreed with the reasoning tbh. And then we don't necessarily formally decline every report as admins, removing one as unanswered after a while constitutes a de facto decline really anyway. Sometimes borderline ones that no one wants to make a call on just get left until someone removes them. Mfield (Oi!) 00:42, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
A bubble tea and a thank you!
You might remember me from last month, or not, but i'm just here to thank you for getting me out of that WP:MISLEADNAME block. Have a nice day! |One Reaction was here. Got a complaint? 20:35, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
Hi there, I have noticed a problem with a website that might require Administrator oversight.
I visited the website of Elbridge Colby to get information about him sabotaging US Congress decisions on providing aid to Ukraine. The website did not contain the information I was expecting to find there and only presented the person in positive light, not mentioning any of the controversies. This seemed very suspicious to me, so I looked at the edit history and found there the information I was looking for. However, every single piece of that information was being consistently, repeatedly deleted by one single user called Sibshops. I reverted those deletes to keep the information on the wiki page. There were entire sections and paragraphs with multiple links and references to respected media outlets, but all this text, all the work created by other users who put a lot of effort in their articles and gathered multiple references - all of it was deleted by Sibshops. I notified him, asking him to stop deleting content, but he keeps doing it. Therefore, I have created a report about disruptive editing on the site: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#Disruptive_editing_by_User%3ASibshops
I am new to the entire reporting procedure, so I would appreciate it if somebody with more experienced looked into this and made sure all the necessary procedures are respected. My concern is to make sure Wikipedia remains a reliable source of objective information, and not a place to advertise politicians in a one-sided, unfair manner.
I found your contact through "recently active admins".
Thank you in advance

@YggdrasiII Hi, filing a report at AN/I was the correct course of action, it will be looked over there by multiple sets of experienced eyes, both admin and non. Mfield (Oi!) 21:44, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
People are shouting at me, threatening that they will block my account, saying I "should" know some things I never heard about. I feel like I'm being attacked by a horde of zombies and it's overwhelming. I can't take so much stress from people with my ASD. So many attacks for flagging a problem and asking for help...🙁 YggdrasiII (talk) 16:02, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
@YggdrasiII. There is always a risk on Wikipedia when you raise an issue on a noticeboard, that you will not like the consensus of the discussion, or all of the advice that comes your way. I did not look into your original complaint in depth as I was busy, and I am not going to weight in on the content under dispute as it's not my area. But if a whole group of experienced editors on a high traffic noticeboard like AN/I take the time to look through the history of your complaint and all are coming to the same conclusions, you would do well to take their advice to heart. I wouldn't concur that anyone is shouting at you or threatening you. If it is coming across that way you would do well to reply apologizing for misunderstanding any policies due to being new, and asking for some clear and concise guidance on how to proceed. People are always willing to extend help to new editors. If they are directing you to policies such as WP:RS be sure to read through them all. If they are telling you that your dispute needs to be handled on article talk then assure them you will do that and engage with the editor there. Mfield (Oi!) 17:29, 11 May 2026 (UTC)

Hi Mfield, this article was recently subject to a revdev. I understand because it contained information from the 1949 Dictionary of Australian Biography. However, there is an earlier version of the biography in the 1892 Dictionary of Australasian Biography that is definitely in the public domain. The two biographies contain a lot of the same biographical information.
In addition, the first biography is 3000 characters with spaces and the second is 3600 characters but the content deleted as a result of the copyvio was 5600 characters. I can't see what was deleted obviously but can I query this please? Thanks Mme Maigret (talk) 08:19, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
Hi @Mmemaigret, no problem, looking at the diff, the material that was used originally to generate that article was clearly from the 1949 version. Sections that remained in it up to the revdel are verbatim from the 1949 version. I can't see anything in the deleted material that matches the phrasing of the 1892 version at all tbh.
