Wikipedia is, above all, an encyclopedia , and should maintain encyclopedic standards .
While wikipedia is not paper , neither should it be an indiscriminate collection of information . In short, Wikipedia is not Googleâ„¢
I fear that Wikipedia, by nature of its very design, tends to suffer from recentism . Articles should strive for temporal balance and provide only the most notable facts about their subjects.
Articles should claim notability through verifiable and reliable sources. Articles about yourself , your company , your website or your band might qualify for deletion .
Articles should strive for brevity , clarity and NPOV .
Weasel words should be avoided, as should puffery . Trivia and pop culture references should be sourced, kept at a minimum, and ideally incorporated into the main text.
Vandalism , in any form, is not tolerated, especially external link spamming .
When in doubt, refer to the five pillars .
Latest pet peeves
Random covers listed in song articles that violate WP:SONGCOVER
Biographies listing names (and birthdates!) of non-notable children (see WP:NONAME )
Concert venues listing random performances that have no inherent notability
Increased tendencies for violating WP:RECENT by restating every single news update to an ongoing event.
Listing every random time a song, TV show, whatever happens to mention a topic and then having an "In media" section for this non-notable trivia.
