Tennessee Jed (song)
Tennessee Jed is a Grateful Dead song written by Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia. Hunter wrote the lyics on a summer 1971 evening in Barcelona, Spain, while Garcia's music emulated the Bakersfield sound. The band first performed the song in Minneapolis in October 1971, and later during their 1972 European tour. The version performed at L'Olympia in Paris, France was included on their Europe '72 live album. The band performed the song at more than 400 shows over ensuing years.
