Tapir raksasa (Tapirusaugustus)[1][2][3] adalah sebuah spesies tapir yang telah punah, yang sebelumnya ditemukan di Tiongkok selatan, Vietnam dan Laos,[4] dengan beberapa catatan yang menyebutkan kehadirannya di Taiwan, Jawa[5] dan kemungkinan Kalimantan.[6] Spesies ini diketahui berasal dari kala Pleistosen Tengah hingga Akhir.[7] Terdapat bukti bahwa spesies ini sintas hingga Holosen, tetapi bukti tersebut tidak kuat.[8]Tapirus augustus lebih besar dari tapir hidup apapun,[1] dengan perkiraan bobot yaitu 623 kilogram (1.373pon).[9] Spesies ini sebelumnya ditempatkan pada genusnya sendiri, Megatapirus, tetapi sekarang ditempatkan dalam Tapirus.
