Protorothyrididae adalah famili reptil kecil mirip kadal yang sudah punah. Tengkorak mereka tidak memiliki fenestra, seperti halnya kura-kura modern. Protorothyrididae hidup di Amerika Utara, dari periode Karbon Akhir sampai Permian Awal.[1][2][3][4] Banyak genera reptil primitif yang dulunya dianggap Protorothyrididae. Brouffia, Coelostegus, Paleothyris dan Hylonomus, misalnya, baru-baru ini ditemukan sebagai eureptilia yang lebih basal.[5]
