Porto Alegre adalah sebuah kota yang terletak di sebelah tenggara Brasil, sekitar 2.100km dari ibu kota Brasil, Brasilia. Penduduknya berjumlah 1.509.000 jiwa (2010). Kota ini didirikan pada tahun 1772. Luasnya adalah 496km².
Kota ini memiliki angka kepadatan penduduk sebanyak 394 jiwa/km². Di wilayah metropolitan memiliki jumlah penduduk 4.40.769 jiwa.
