Meyer was born in Hyderabad.[1][2] As a child, Meyer learned piano and violin.[2] Since he was trained in carnatic music, he sang ghazals for All India Radio.[2] He studied at Trinity College of Music in London.[2] After being inspired by A. R. Rahman, he took up a career in music.[2]Tammareddy Bharadwaja gave him a chance for the film Pothe Poni (2006) before he received his breakthrough with Happy Days (2007).[2]
