Penyelidikannya juga meliputi situasi lingkungan. Dalam hal itu, individu yang bermental terbelakang dapat diajari dengan tiruan dan bahasa dengan penguatan perilaku dan teknik pembentukan.
Baer menemukan bahwa setelah penguatan bagi peniruan yang tepat, maka generalisasi pada situasi-situasi yang serupa telah dipertinggi.
Riset Baer yang terus-menerus dilakukan adalah mengenai proses belajar terkait adaptasi pribadi dan sosial pada anak-anak ABG.
