The stadium initially failed to meet the Indonesian football league's standards as a home stadium for Liga 2. It has now been renovated, leaving only the west (main) and east stands intact, while the south and north stands have been demolished. It has now been renamed Benteng Reborn Stadium.

Stadium naming

The stadium's original name was derived from Tangerang's nickname, Benteng (lit.'Fort'). Hence, the stadium was given the name Benteng Stadium to make it easier for the public to recognize. After renovations, the word "Reborn" was added to give it a more modern feel.
